The Video Software Dealers Association Tuesday announced actress Lucy Liu as the recipient of its 2006 Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Liu will be honored during VSDA's Home Entertainment 2006 show July 11-13 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.

In addition to being one of the most-recognizable stars in Hollywood, Ms. Liu has devoted tremendous time and energy to her role as a Celebrity Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund, VSDA President Bo Andersen said in a news release. We applaud her commitment to bringing relief to the stricken children of the world.

The star of Charlie's Angels and Kill Bill films, among others, has been a UNICEF Ambassador since 2005 and has traveled to South Africa to help the AIDS effort there as well assisted in relief efforts after the October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan.
