Family and friends of Molly Bloom are pitching in Friday night to help raise money for her recovery. Bloom lost her leg on prom night when she was run over by a limousine.

Her mother, Bernie Bloom, works as a bus driver for Littleton schools and her coworkers are sponsoring a spaghetti and salad bar fundraiser Friday night. It is at the Elks Lodge in Littleton at 5749 South Curtice St. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It's $5 per person. Donated prizes also will be raffled.

Bloom's cause is also getting some famous help. Actress Jessica Biel has agreed to a date with the highest bidder during a fundraiser on Tuesday.

She won't be at the Mollypalooza event, but will return to Colorado for the lunch date next month. She hopes it will help Molly's family pay for the medical expenses. Biel, 24, a former Boulder resident, starred in "Stealth" and the TV show "7th Heaven." She's currently on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine and was named the "sexiest woman alive" by Esquire magazine.

The event features entertainment from three bands from East High School and win-a-date auctions with 10 young men. It will be held Tuesday, July 18 at Rock Island Cafe at 15th Street and Wazee Avenue starting at 7 p.m.

Molly celebrated her 18th birthday on Thursday at Children's Hospital, where she is currently recuperating from her injuries.

Her mother, writing on the family blog said, "I don't exactly know how Molly felt about celebrating her 18th birthday confined to a bed, but we had a lot to be thankful for. Molly is still with us. We heard that she had a good party. We were kicked out. No grownups after 6:30. Molly is really starting to establish her independence. As a parent, it is so hard to let go of your children. You want to be there every minute to protect them, but you know they have to make their own way. With Molly, it is even harder because I feel that I have that much more to protect her from."

Bloom was a star swimmer at East High School and lost her left leg and half of her pelvis in the May 13 incident.
