Vatican tries to keep pope from paedophile slurs

The Vatican has denounced attempts to involve the pope in scandals surrounding paedophile activity within the Catholic Church.
The Vatican has denounced attempts to involve the pope in scandals surrounding paedophile activity within the Catholic Church.

A PR campaign to defend the reputation of the pontiff has been launched after allegations were made over an alleged paedophile priest, who was simply ordered to do community work by the Munich archdiocese while Pope Benedict was archbishop there.

The spreading scandals of paedophile priests in the pope’s German homeland have snowballed, after it was found that a 2001 church directive he wrote, while a Vatican cardinal, instructed bishops to keep abuse cases confidential.

Germany's justice minister has blamed the directive for lack of prosecutions in many of the cases.

The church has denied any cover-ups and has called allegations against the pope as false and defamatory, as he never made a rule on sexual abuse which called for a ban on making a complaint to civil authorities.

Some bishops in other countries though, have said the document was widely taken to mean they shouldn't go to police.

    Pope Wethering Pedophile Slurs

Pope Ratzinger may try to present himself as a victim in this nightmare that is Catholic Clergy sexual abuse of the innocent, but I can assure you, HE IS NOT. As one who, as a child, was left crying and traumatized in the choir loft of my little parish church, I know that Pope Ratzinger will never know what true suffering is. He is claiming to be a victim because, like so many other members of the Roman Catholic Hierarchy who’ve ridden to their present positions of wealth and power over the bloodied and sexually butchered bodies of the children of our church, he has finally gotten caught. All I can wish for Ratzinger and his fellow clergy abuse enablers, is that they never get another good night’s sleep. And when they do sleep, may they hear the screams of the victims. And when they pass from this life, may they hear those screams on into eternity. And may they never see GOD in the face.

You say, you were traumatized in the choir loft of your little parish church. You claim, that your church was covered with the bodies of the bloodied and sexually butchered children. I assume that crime scene pictures were taken and that the police had been involved in this. You say that the pope has finally been caught in this horific act. Can you tell me, whether this story in your young days, has ever hit the newspapers and which papers and what date. If you cannot substantiate this outragious post of yours, than you are just a malicious windbag.

These acts are very dirty and sinister. The people involved should be thrown out of the church and dealt with harshly. What is very disturbing is that these acts were committed in the house of god, where there is only righteous acts and worship. It is now defaming the catholic church, the Pope, and the church as a whole. This is an ordeal that will not go away overnight, and those in power should act decisively, with the utmost authority. Plain and simple.

    It's about children..it's about cover-ups

According to the Virtus website, theU.S. program used to educate all Catholic employees about the issue of child sex abuse -it is pointed out that less than 5 percent of allegations are false. The Church understands that victims coming forward - even much later into their adulthood are not making these stories up. And when the perpetrator is named, there is often a thick record of other victims associated with him/her. I know it is difficult to imagine, let alone accept the fact, that the heirarchy of a church that we love could have possibly allowed these crimes to continue unpunished, but it happened. And even if they didn’t realize the depth of damage that it caused at the time... there is no excuse for the secrecy and deliberate concealment of records that continues today. This is just a sad reality. Besides our faith... priests, bishops, and even the pope have at least one other thing in common with us. They are human. They sin and they can be forgiven. But weather they work for a church, a government or a business, they must be held accountable just like any of us. At this point the Church heirarchy has lost all credibility and moral authority. We must do better. As the Church (Body of Christ) we must demand it.

Judy, has a clear understanding of Part of the Problem.

While Judy understand much, there is another poster that advocates ignoring the bad and focusing on the good, sorta the republican move on because a democrat replaced... ! The suggestion of Judy as a solution is well intentioned, and like most religious followers, does not understand the 'structure' of the organization they are 'believers' in. The structure denies accountibility. Having the power of god is more than intoxicating. Add a structure that confirms the power, ensures the good of the believers will be matched by the evils of the 'masters'. Of course all the master do not secumb, but... ! Do! Spain’s History is still a vibrant example! Our Recent US HISTORY MIMICS Spain’s. The following being an example; How many Hospitals are named after a Religious Theme or person? How did these Names develope? Where did the hospital come from? Is the Hospital still the same organization? The last being first, No it is not the same organization, its a profit corporation. Sold by the Religious organization that 'OWNED IT'! But did not Pay for it! It was paid for by believers scraping together pennies nickels dimes on through into dollars to help their communities and each other! Low cost help and trusting their leaders moving towards God! Sold out without even asking the real Owners! The real owners did not have any say! The 'structure' decided! A profit was more desirable, than working and struggling to help the 'poor intended' when they campaigned the neighborhoods soliciting donations! The believers own nothing the 'structure' does. Not one cent of the profit was given to the stockholders! Corruption pure and white as new snow.
